KRUZ MALDONADO is a perfomer Born in Abilene, Texas. Raised in various locations due to his family's Air Force connections, he has been exposed to a variety of cultures that have likely helped shape his unique perspective on life and performance. His journey into theater started at the age of 10, and his passion for the craft has only grown from there.
One of his major accomplishments in 2024 was earning the Best Actor Award at the Texas Indie Film Festival for his portrayal of Miguel in the film Desolate. Shortly after, he made his regional theater debut as "Tobias" in Sweeney Todd during the Texas Shakespeare Festival's 39th season. The same summer, he represented the Majestic Empire/Joci Awards at the prestigious National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the "Jimmy Awards," on Broadway—a major milestone in his career.
At 18, Kruz moved to New York City to pursue his passion at the New York Film Academy's Musical Theatre program. Just two days into his second semester, an incredible opportunity arose when he was offered the role of Peter Pan in Lonny Price’s reimagined national tour. This experience, which allowed him to work alongside acclaimed creatives and a dedicated cast and crew, is one Kruz holds close to his heart, especially the "fly guys" who make the magic happen on stage.
In addition to his acting, Kruz has a deep interest in the creative process. During his senior year of high school, he wrote, directed, tech-ed, and performed in the show The Anthem of Code Blue. This work caught the attention of Rosy Productions in San Antonio, who greenlit the adaptation of the script into a feature film, set to begin production in Summer 2025.
Looking ahead, Kruz is set to close the Peter Pan Tour at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto on June 1, 2025. Afterward, he plans to pursue an online business degree while continuing to grow his performing career. His goal is to better understand the business side of the industry so that he can one day make his mark in the creative aspects of performing.
Kruz is so incredibly grateful for all the opportunities he has received, he recognizes he has a long way to go and a lot more work to do but is so excited to see what happens next.
